Ingredient field notes · Uneven tone and antioxidant care

Vitamin C: read beyond the label.

Vitamin C is a family of ingredients in skincare. The form matters: ascorbic acid and a vitamin C derivative are not identical labels for the same formula.

What the name means

Ascorbic acid is the ingredient behind many pure vitamin C claims. Derivatives have different names; do not assume they have identical evidence or potency.

Clinical context: AAD: vitamin C and skincare. Ingredient research does not establish that every finished product delivers the same result.

What to check on your bottle

Read the INCI name rather than relying on a vitamin C badge. Packaging, formulation and stability matter alongside the percentage advertised.

Names recognized by Rhune

ascorbic acid · l-ascorbic acid · vitamin c · acido ascorbico

These are lookup terms from Rhune's catalog, including common names. They are not a list of clinically interchangeable products.

Before adding it to your routine

An acidic serum may irritate sensitive skin. Follow its directions and keep sun protection in the routine; vitamin C is not a sunscreen.

What to track

Track uneven tone in consistent light. A brighter looking photo after application does not establish a lasting change in pigmentation.
